Psychologist

Psychologists are registered health professionals who have completed a mandatory minimum five to six year sequence of study. Psychologists must practice according to the standards set by the Psychology Board of Australia, and strictly adhere to the code of ethics.
 
Psychologists working in schools undertake mental health assessments to identify factors impacting on student’s emotional wellbeing and engagement with schooling. They develop treatment plans to address those identified areas of concern and work as part of the schools established support team.
 

The school psychologist can provide one-on-one therapeutic intervention for a range of issues including:

  • Anxiety and Depression and other mental health concerns
  • Interpersonal relationship difficulties / difficulties coping / low self-esteem
  • Emotional distress / coping with grief and sadness / anger management difficulties
  • Concerns re family issues / personal safety / school engagement / stress / trauma
