At Highfields State School, we believe that there is tremendous value in fostering a 'physical activity environment', that encourages maximum participation and enjoyment in physical activities and sporting opportunities. We also believe in the many health, physical, social, academic and emotional benefits of living an active lifestyle.
The core values of the physical activity program at Highfields State School are, everyone participating in physical activities that promote enjoyment in being active, while learning about a wide variety of physical activities and sports, and participating in all physical activities in the 'Highfields Spirit' of sportsmanship, at all times.
The sporting opportunities at Highfields State School go far beyond the 30 minute weekly PE lessons that develop each learners' knowledge and understanding, physical development and mastery of skills and movement sequences of a wide variety of sports and physical activities.
Learn to Swim and Swim and Survive programs at Highfields Aquatic Centre are enjoyed by students from Prep to Year 6 as an essential component of the PE program.
We also support students' classroom learning with active bodies and active minds programs including physical activity breaks between academic learning sessions. The knowledge, skills and movement sequences students develop in PE lessons often flow into before school and lunchtime physical activities.
