Students will be assigned to one of three school sports houses: Bluegum, Kurrajong and Wattle. A student's house is based on the first letter of their surname.
(A - F = Bluegum, G - M = Kurrajong, N – Z = Wattle)
The school sports houses are named after the predominate types of trees found in the Highfields area.
The house colours are: blue for Bluegum, red for Kurrajong and yellow for Wattle. These three colours can also be found on the HSS school formal and sports uniforms.
School hats are reversible and have house colours on one side and the school uniform colours and emblem on the other side. This makes it easy for students to remember their school house and house colour.
Students are encouraged to wear their house colours with pride at all major sporting events each year.
