The Australian Curriculum defines the Technologies subject area as two components, design and technologies, and digital technologies. At Highfields State School students have the opportunity to experience both during Prep to Year 6.
Students develop thinking skills in design to generate and produce solutions to meet needs and explore potential possibilities. Digitally, students develop computational thinking and an understanding of information systems to design and implement digital solutions. Digital literacy and critical thinking skills encourage students to discern information and develop strategies to maintain their digital wellbeing and promote online safety.
Highfields State School has a senior and junior lab, access to laptops, ipads, robotic and coding equipment. These enhance and support children of all ages and abilities to access opportunities and encourage engagement in their educational experience.
