Highfields special education program

Supporting students with disabilities in a caring and inclusive learning environment.

The Highfields special education program operates as a cluster school program with a head of special education services overseeing the support of students with disabilities across four school settings.

The special education team consists of highly skilled teachers and teacher aides. A high level of expertise and experience is offered for a wide range of disability areas and diverse learning needs.

Staff adopt an inclusive approach to teaching and learning by responding to the individual student and matching the needs with reasonable adjustments and support. A range of support modes exist across the school including; early intervention programs, transition classes, playground programs and in-class support programs.

Special education staff proudly recognises and supports every student and celebrates their abilities within a caring, challenging and inclusive learning environment.

The Highfields State School special education program is an integral and valued component of the Highfields State School community.
