Lilly Tate, Sam Parker and Andrew Lynn at the Pioneer Village Australia Day celebrations

What Australia Day means to me!

Three Highfields State School students, Lilly Tate, Sam Parker and Andrew Lynn, represented the school at the recent Australia Day Celebrations held at Highfields Pioneer Village on Monday, 26th January 2015.  They addressed a huge crowd as Youth Guest speakers during the official proceedings, each expressing what Australia Day meant to them.
Lilly, Sam and Andrew, through their speeches and demeanour, demonstrated to everyone true patriotism and leadership. They are proud young Australians and are a credit to the Highfields State School.
Below are some excerpts from each of the three speeches which epitomise what the Highfields State School stands for. Congratulations to Lilly, Sam and Andrew for your participation in such an important event and for being such wonderful role models.
“Australia Day is a legacy that will live on in the hearts of Australians for many, many years to come.”  Lilly Tate
Our culture is different to others because we have opportunities -  we just have to find them - that’s what makes our culture shine.” Andrew Lynn
“I think we should all come together and celebrate what we can all offer each other. “ Sam Parker
