Highfields had two teams participating in this year’s Opti-MINDS Challenge held in Gatton on Sunday, 24 August.

Despite knowing that they would have a lot less time than other teams – as they were going on the Year 7 camp in the final week - in true Opti-MIND spirit, they decided to have a go anyway. That’s the beauty of Opti-MINDS – it’s about participation and teamwork. Taking on a challenge and tackling it in a spirit of excitement and enjoyment – to come up with the best solution you can through teamwork, co-operation and creativity.
And on the day, both teams really did themselves proud. Despite their limited time frame – both teams were awarded Honours - 14 unashamedly excellent Highfields State School students.
Team 1 :  Mackenzie Park, Jason Smart, Sophie Mortensen, Neve Crossinggum, Chloe Hackett – with Niko Brown and Bianca Nieuwendaal who were unable to attend on the day.
- Honours Award in the category of Language Literature
Team 2 : Amy Jocumsen, Ellie Coggan, Lauren Hopgood, Bridgette Weir, Emma Trussell, Claire Love and Aidan Earle.
- Honours Award in the category of Science Engineering.
We would also like to thank Miss Brennan for helping the students prepare for their Spontaneous Challenge and Mr and Mrs Campbell-Eagles who acted as judges on the day.
