Highfields Chess Club

Chess Competition - chess has a good future with high representation from younger grades!

The Highfields State School Chess Tournament was held last Wednesday.  The event was well supported with 31 students from Year 3 to Year 6 participating.  There were six rounds of chess and the competition was fierce.

After an exciting and eventful day, first place went to Jake Lord, second to Samuel Wilkinsand third to Kye Faulkner

It was great to see the younger grades represented giving an indication that chess has a good future at Highfields State School.

The Highfields State School Chess Club starts again Week 2 Term 1 next year.  Any students from Years 4 to 6 who are interested should check with Mr Thornton for details.

Happy chessing!!!!
