Choral Fanfare 2015 - Bringing Home GOLD!!!

4/06/2015
Choral Fanfare is organized by Education Queensland to showcase the quality of Music Programs being run in schools across our state. It is held biennially in all the education regions and on Tuesday 2nd June,  the Highfields Senior Choir participated as they have done since the inception of the event.

The repertoire was free choice and the choir presented three items of contrasting nature – a whimsical 2-part arrangement of the nursery rhyme “Humpty Dumpty”, a Sufi chant expressing the desire for love and peaceful harmony around the globe, and “Blues Blues Blues”, a swinging Jazz piece which had the added colour of a Double Bass accompaniment provided by former student and 2014 Music Captain, Sophie Burke. We are also grateful for the commitment of Mrs Melinda Burke in making herself available to accompany both choir rehearsals every week and helping bring our performances to life.

Despite the trepidation of anxious excitement and pre-performance nerves, our choristers gave a wonderful display of ensemble singing and marvellous self-discipline. Their hard work and consistent rehearsing was rewarded with a Gold win in a field of 17 schools, and our choristers have every right to be proud of their efforts in performing so admirably.

CONGRATULATIONS Senior Choir – we look forward to maintaining this high level of achievement and more happy hours preparing and performing this year.
